Tomorrow I’m going to have a juicy chat with Ruthie Lindsey about soulful singleness, divine dating, and…perky partnership? Will work on that last one.
This is a topic I’ve talked about before (scroll down for the recording!) and something I get all fired up about.
It bums me out and breaks my heart that my past self and many brave daters out there are still hearing all kinds of messaging that dating is a linear process: there’s a beginning point, and a goal. And the space between the beginning and the goal shouldn’t last too long.
And there are even lots of messages supporting the narrative that anyone falling short of that goal is somehow behind, or not doing enough, or failing.
Lies, all lies!!!!
The growth of a human soul doesn’t happen on a factory line, where each person is given the school, the career, the friends, the partner as they pass along a conveyer belt. How boring would that be!
Humans are fluid, dynamic, DIVINE beings and we are guided by our souls who don’t work on Earth Time.
Souls work on their own time, through the beauty and challenges of different seasons. Some seasons are longer and some are shorter, some are easeful and some make you feel really stuck.
The divinity of dating is your soul knowing that society’s messages generally aren’t the truth, and that you will have your own path (which is more like a jungle than a path), and you will find meaning wherever you are.
Being in a different season than those around you doesn’t mean anything except that your soul is at work and has its own perfect timing.
