Mari, I need to say that the yellow top with the Alice and Olivia skirt is such a look for you. That colour looks amazing on you. I love the other dresses too, but the picture with your emoji husband really caught my eye! Have you ever had colour analysis done? You are great at choosing the right colours for you. How does one figure that out haha.
Iva, that's so nice!!!! I HAVE had my color analysis done, but chartreuse is nowhere to be seen! :) I think it's notoriously a hard color for most people--surely including me!--but that clearly hasn't stopped me! I loooved that outfit so so much. (LOLLLL @ my emoji husband!) Apparently my color chart is "sunlit spring" so lots of pastels and corals, which I do love to wear. I find it useful for narrowing down outfit decisions! Strangely, it said that I should never wear black, which is one of my favorites...I thought it looked good on everybody!? Needless to say, I guess take these things with a grain of salt, but I so appreciate the vote for chartreuse!!!
I have the same under the sink organizer AND my favorite color to wear is also chartreuse! 😌 Glad to hear your pregnancy updates & am very excited for your new book!
I too love chartreuse and consider it a neutral. In fact there’s a pic of my favourite bag in my latest post on here. You are looking amazing by the way.
I love reading you, learning from you, disagreeing with you, adoring you :)
I am a mother of two children and after my first son was born, I felt so SHOCKED by how hard being a parent was that I actually wrote a book about ir. It got published in 2020, in France where I live, it is called: Nouvelle mère (New Mother).
All that to say, I have thought about these subjects a lot.
When we, women, say : "but it's all worth it", I think we are talking to OURSELVES aloud as we try to remember the good (in sometimes whole days of horrible) and conjure up the courage to be mothers while sharing for a small moment, with a stranger, the immensity of the undescribable love we have for our kids.
"But it's all worth it, right" is a moment we are talking to ourselves. It's like a prayer, actually.
Of course, all that being said, I NEVER used those words :) I always go to the relief of sharing complex emotions aroudn parenting witout fear. But, I get it. I get the moms who say it. For millenia, it has been the hardest task on earth (and it is getting harder because of indiviudalistic cultures) and it falls way more on women's lap. So it's hard, you can't talk about it, and if you are in a heterosexual relatioship, your partner is probably doing way less than you. So we wonder aloud (with hopefull and tired eyes) it's all worth it, right? (and it is) (but it's the hardest).
Happy quinceañera to Sunny!! May we all be so lucky to reincarnate as the best fuzzy friend to someone who concocts cat treat birthday margaritas for us!
Per usual, I needed to read something like “people are a lot more present when life is a lot less predictable” as I’m in the thick of unpredictability with a sick cat. Also learning from unpleasant situations that cost so much money. This past weekend, amidst the anxiety and fear, I also noted bulbous moments of relief and joy like clouds parting to spill sun on my face and it felt glorious. Much better than when nothing is going wrong!
I agree with everyone here about you rockin the Chartreuse 🎾 Like a color I never knew I needed to be out there in the wild! Vavavavoom!!
Your book in my hands means I’m sitting in my new house surrounded by boxes and I cannot freaking wait for both!!!
"Looking at this organized cabinet is the same as gazing upon the ocean for me" yep! that totally resonates with me!!!!! Mari, you are just too adorable, and I loved everything about this post! I think the idea of doing virtual retreats, or just a day long thing would definitely work for me, and I would look forward to that! I actually bought a ticket to watch your book reading/evening at the Strand, and I have the book pre-ordered, so I am all MARI ANDREW prepared......So many great memories from the retreat in NC----I can't say I am so fond of the place where it was held (not to be a complainer lol), but YOU and the other retreat goers ( all who were women), were so very special, and interesting, and creative ---I am soooooooooo glad I decided to go. I also randomly was listening to a segment you did on Skillshare today just, something you had done many years ago----now that I have met you in person, it's even more pleasurable to watch these segments!!!! Good luck to you as you move through June----the month of gemini's.......much love xoxoxoxoxoxo kimberly
